Above the Ancient Rooftops: A Stay at Yi Jian Yun Kuan in Lijiang
When you think of Lijiang Ancient City, it’s easy to imagine bustling cobblestone alleyways, red lanterns, and lively shopfronts. But to truly appreciate the scale and beauty of this historic town, you need a change of perspective—literally.
During our recent trip to Yunnan, we stayed at Yi Jian Yun Kuan Hotel (一见云宽), a sanctuary nestled right inside the ancient city that offers one of the most breathtaking views you’ll find anywhere in Lijiang.
A View Like No Other
Perched at an elevated spot above the ancient roofs, Yi Jian Yun Kuan sits perfectly above the hustle and bustle. Stepping onto the viewing deck gives you an immediate, panoramic look over the entire ancient city at a single glance. Watching the sun dip below the horizon while light catches the endless sea of traditional tiled rooftops is pure magic—and easily one of the best photography vantage points in town.
Top-Tier Hospitality & Seamless Travel
Beyond the incredible views, what truly made our stay stand out was the exceptional, white-glove service from the team.
Planning day trips into high-altitude territory can sometimes be a hassle, but the hosts made it effortless. They personally arranged a shared ride for us out to Tiger Leaping Gorge, taking away all the stress of route planning and transport logistics. On top of that, their local recommendations for eateries, hidden spots, and daily itineraries around Lijiang were spot on every single time.
Peaceful Retreat, Right in the Heart of the Action
Location-wise, the hotel hits the sweet spot. Tucked neatly within the ancient city, it stays remarkably quiet and peaceful when you want to retreat and recharge. Yet, the moment you step outside, you're immediately surrounded by endless things to see and do—from cozy tea houses and vibrant street food to bustling night markets.
If you’re planning a trip to Yunnan and want a place that combines top-notch service, prime convenience, and an unforgettable view over Lijiang, Yi Jian Yun Kuan should definitely be on your list.
